What is the maximum processor speed supported surrounded by an IBM Thinkpad 240x and how effortless is it to upgrade the CPU?

I want to upgrade the processor contained by this laptop, which is currently a 500MHz PIII. Is it possible to upgrade this, and if so, what is the maximum processor speed that it will support? I can't find any details relating to this on the IBM website.

Also, how easy is it to upgrade this type of laptop? I enjoy never been inside a laptop up to that time.

Thanks in credit.

Answer:

Laptops don't really work the same process as PCs (most of the time - there are ways of building your own) surrounded by that all the components (with the exception of the RAM) are put surrounded by place to stay in place. With a PC you could confidently replace the CPU as it has conditional fixings whereas a Laptops CPU is soldered in place. Yes you could technically enjoy a go at replacing it but you would own to be a millimetre perfect solder master, plus it would possible not work anyway. The reason IBM own no information on this is probably because they don't expect people to run fiddling inside their laptops. The only option you really have for speeding up is to

a) donate RAM/replace the existing RAM with a bigger module which is correctly simple to do, or

b) buy a new Laptop.

Sorry I couldn't give a hand more.
NO. It is soldered in.
