What is the best Linux Live compact disc?

I want to start using Linux on my Laptop but don't want to install it, So I want to use Live compact disc, Which one will let me surf the pattern and is the most compatible with todays computers and hardware?

My laptop is a P4 1.8ghz 256 MB WiFi 40GB Drive.

I'm not really sure roughly this, but I just read it from a magazine. It's call Knoppix. You can boot from it without partioning or anything.
Its adjectives a matter of personal preferance really, they adjectives look reletavely the same to me, operate indistinguishable and all hold the linux interface and access to hardware and software. Some like Ubuntu hold problems with secure modems and wireless devices.
